Vine's pruning at Domaine Freyburger Marcel
New year is a new cycle for our vineyard and for the "carrier" of our harvest: the vine.
A new year where you have to choose to “prune” the future canes carrying the precious fruit buds.
But beware, time is running out! The winegrower must act before the vegetation starts again, at the risk of
having a rise in sap which can weaken the plant. It is said that the vine is crying.
Guyot-Poussart pruning is practiced here at Domaine Freyburger Marcel! ✂️
It respects the flow of sap, so that the vines remain balanced, in better health
especially against wood diseases.
This technique also gives the plant every chance to find its strength and vigor to provide fully ripe grapes
during the next harvest.
Pruning is a long winter job, which keeps the winemaker in suspense for an average of 2.5 months.

In 2020, the Domaine Freyburger Marcel invites you to discover the work of the vineyard on the occasion
of a series of meetings to lift the veil on the back of the decor.
The goal is to participate in the life of the vineyard, by carrying out work in a reserved plot
just for"apprentice winegrowers" !
Wearing good walking shoes, visitors were invited to join us at the estate for a few
hours. After the demonstration and the pruning shears, a real typical snack was shared.
