January 2022: The vineyard has put on its winter coat...
Winter has settled down in our vineyards and with it a new cycle for our vineyard and for the "carrier" of our harvest: the vine !
A new year when it is necessary to make the choice to "prune" the future branches carrying the precious fruiting buds.
But beware, time is running out! The winegrower must act before the vegetation restarts, at the risk of having a rise in sap
which can weaken the plant. We say that the vine is crying.
Vine pruning: what that?
The Guyot-Poussart type pruning that is practiced here, at Domaine Freyburger Marcel! ✂️
It respects the flow of sap, so that the vines remain balanced and healthier
especially in the face of wood diseases.
This technique also gives the plant every chance of finding its strength and vigor to provide
grapes at full maturity during the next harvest.
Pruning is a long winter job, which keeps the winemaker on his toes for an average of two and a half months.
A real work of reflection, of sustainability...we invite you to discover this important stage of the vineyard during our
